Colleen Higgsis a publisher who also writes poetry and short fiction.She has had two poetry collections published:Halfborn Woman(2004),Lava Lamp Poems(2011) and a collection of short stories:Looking forTrouble(2012). She started Modjaji Books in 2007, it has since become aninternationally recognized feminist press. Many Modjaji titles have wonawards or been short listed. Modjaji Books is a member of theInternational Alliance of Independent Publishers. Higgs is a publishingactivist, and this catalogue is one of the ways she contributes to bookdevelopment and raising the profile of independent publishing in Africa.She lives in Cape Town with her daughter, two dogs and a cat.
